Folami Four to the Floor Chic Nile Rodgers disco 70s 80s dance music

Our friend the lovely Folami, singer in Chic and now also a fantastic solo artist took a liking to our Lost In Disco t-shirts recently. We were obviously absolutely thrilled to bits when she sent us these photos as our shirts arrived in Atlanta.

Folami has also been busy on some solo material, and the first offering has everything we love in a dance record. Four To The Floor was created and produced by Grammy nominated singer/songwriter Lester “L2” Shaw and written by McKenzie Frye. The sound comes from a combination of 70’s disco, dance and pop music that Folami fused together along with Lester to make her solo debut. It’s inspired by Marvin Gaye’s brilliant final studio album Midnight Love from 1982, and particularly the track ‘Rockin’ After Midnight’, where he started incorporating the synthesizer and drum machines and other effects that created his classic 80’s disco sound.

Four to the Floor is available now on Folami’s website, or on iTunes now.
