Finding the Barnes Home Guard Association

The Barnes Home Guard Association is actually in the heart of edgy East Sheen (known in some circles as the Bronx of South West London). It can be found at 76a Richmond Park Road, London SW14 8LA. It’s about 5 minutes’ walk up Richmond Park Road from the Upper Richmond Road West. Look for the driveway on the right hand side between the houses at 76 and 78. At the end of the driveway, the building is over on the right. At this point it’ll be clear that you’ve been miraculously transported to the Philadelphia of the mid 70s. Possibly.

For anyone driving, there are a limited number of free parking spaces onsite – but of course you won’t want to be driving. The main road is served by buses 33 (Fulwell to Hammersmith), 337 (Clapham Junction to Richmond) and 493 (Richmond to Tooting). Jump off the bus outside NatWest, opposite Oh Darling! Mortlake British Rail Station (about 16 minutes from Waterloo) is about a 10 minute walk.
